Symboints: Contemporary Artists and the Biosphere
October 21, 2022 - February 26, 2023
Co-curated with Caroline A. Jones and Selby Nimrod for MIT List Visual Arts Center, Symbionts: Contemporary Artists and the Biosphere brought together over a dozen international artists whose work prompts us to reexamine our human relationships to the planet’s biosphere through the lens of symbiosis, or “with living.” With experimental practices that blur the boundaries between art and science, while also underscoring the intersections of biological, social, and economic systems, the artists featued unveil the critical interactions that give shape to our world and the interspecies entanglements that evolve it.
Symbionts was accompanied by an illustrated catalogue-reader designed by Omnivore and co-published by MIT Press and MIT List Visual Arts Center.
